PETITION THE CAGE!

cagecrazy32smThe following is a petition I wrote for a potential DVD distributor. I wrote in Warner Bros. but in reality I have yet to find out what company would be able to accomplish such a feat as the one I request of them. If we can get thousands of signatures onto this thing, we’ll make movie history with the most Cage-tastic collection ever released. Anyways, every petition online has this overview thingy first, then the actual letter. I was thinking we could email out a version of the letter that people can add their own comments and signature to, in order to send them to whatever company we choose and make a larger impact. The idea for this came about when I realized I wanted to throw a Nick Cage themed party and play non-stop Cage movies throughout it, and there was NO collection with all his work in it… I knew this had to change.

Petition Request for Nicolas Cage Legacy Collection DVD box set

Overview:

Target: Warner Brother Studios (or whoever will make one)

Sponsored by: The people who listen to Cage

An actor the caliber of Nicolas Cage deserves to be more than recognized, he deserves to be celebrated.

Currently actor, Nicolas Cage, is rendering captivating performance after another. For those of us who have witnessed the evolution of his achievements (or lived in the Cage as I like to call it) from each role to the next, it is believed to be worth re-releasing his older classics alongside some of his newer work. Such a collection would captivate audiences around the globe, giving them the opportunity to make a one-stop-Cage-pickup to fill in their Cage-necessities – Cage-cessities. As of yet there are no collections of this size, only briefer compilations of three or four films with similar themes or  made within few years from each other.  A Cage-formance is unmistakably unique to each film Mr. Cage has been in. These deserve to be celebrated together in a single collection.

There are currently under a hundred movies which feature Nicolas Cage in a primary role. The possibility of putting these all into one DVD box set is still open and demand for such an item is higher than ever. We must take advantage of this ripe situation to release the Legacy of Cage. Let our voices be heard and may we have all the Cage, all the time.

Sign the petition today and ask Warner Bros. to create the collection of a lifetime’s achievements. Bring all Nicolas Cage’s performances into one DVD box collection for the world to appreciate Cage in his glorious splendor!

Letter:

Dear Warner Bros. Studios,

Few artists have graced us with a legacy quite as quixotic as that of Oscar winning performer, Nicolas Cage. Undeniable is the power found in each of his one of a kind performances of every character graced with passing through him. Greater still is his contribution to 20th and 21st century media and popular culture. Mr. Cage has surpassed the level of mere Hollywood celebrity and gone on into the realm of modern day icons. A celebration is in order! In the spirit of commemorating the awesome beauty that this man has given our world, we would like to see a collection released around his most famous role, himself. Ranging from his Italian prowess in Cpt. Corelli’s Mandolin to lovable thievery in Raising Arizona, let’s give the people what they want. What they want is all the Nicolas Cage they can have in one swooning dose.

Thus we, the people – the voice of America –  the same voice that speaks valiantly to name the next American Idol, would like to petition Warner Brothers (you) to release the “Nicolas Cage Collection: A Legacy of Rage through the Cage.” This much Cage has never been captured in one package before. Such a collection will require at least 12 DVD’s with multiple films on each. This instant necessity for every household will hold such national treasures as: National Treasure, National Treasure: the second one, The Rock, Face Off, Con-Air, Wild at Heart, Leaving Las Vegas, Weatherman, and many, many more Cage-tastic films.

We also propose that Nicolas Cage himself be brought in to your studios to add commentary for each film. Simple short 20 minute bits preceding each picture; short prequels to each video experience allowing the audience insight to the specific dimension of Cage (Cage-mension) in each movie. Such timeless classics like The Wicker Man would only benefit from a short background story of how Mr. Cage entered the right mindset to face “the bees.”  Adding 20 minute window opportunities for Nicolas to give us a little personal note on each film and the essence of his antics will only enhance the audience’s experience. It is his one of a kind persona that sheds a peculiar light on his roles, a light no other actor could cast. This same light is what is being showcased and captured in each interview, his Cage-oir faire.  A legacy the magnitude of that of Nicolas Cage should be bequeathed unto future generations in a manner that allows for proper full appreciation of the grandiose presence he has given our world.

The signatures provided with this petition are representative of the dedication and loyalty these people have to the Cage-sperience. Each is a vow to purchase the collection upon its release. The opportunity is nigh, please act accordingly. The people’s voice must be heard.

Thank you for listening,

The people who listen to Cage

What I´ve finally gotten around to reading

Many-Lives-Many-Masters

I plan on posting some true juice from this last squeeze.  Like many books this last year, what I need to hear seems to jump out to me immediately when I need it.  You could try and logically explain it as projection or any number of skeptical responses, but faith is the lesson I have to learn so we will have some upon reading.

Just to have some background, the story goes that in the early eighties a renowned Psychiatrist begins to treat a young woman in her late twenties names “Catherine”.  Catherine suffers from an array of anxiety disorders and nervous related syndromes including a fear of drowning and a choking reflux that doesn´t allow her to take medication.  Dr.Weiss the author and protagonist decides to take on the challenge…months go by with little or no progress using conventional psychotherapy when he decides to go out on a limb and attempt Hypnosis.  Regression Hypnotherpay which he beleived would help find the root trauma of her panic disorders, assuming there was something she could not or will not remember blocking her from living a normal life.  At first things go normally and there is some success at finding hidden traumas and alieviating some of her mental anguish but as he ventures further and further back he uncovers something mind bottling.

Jimmy: She’s Stranz and Fairchild’s sister?
Chazz: Fairchild’s legs and Stranz’s ass. Mind bottling, isn’t it?
Jimmy: Did you just say “mind bottling?”
Chazz: Yeah, mind bottling. You know, when things are so crazy, it gets your thoughts all trapped, like in a bottle.

Anyway its more than just a worthwhile read but I thought I would share the lessons just as they are, for me mostly but also for the audience.  I would have just posted the lessons on their own so as to avoid any preconceptions associated with the book but…well I´m just not sure if thats Kosher…anyway I guess what I´ll do is just post this as fair warning and throughout other posts just randomly post lessons or one big post with all..or however I feel.  Mostly I just hadn´t posted in a while, had lots of ideas just no time…and well this here post satisfies my OCD.  Everything happens for a reason, what I read in this book is nothing new for the most part and the truth is that it may or may not affect you in the same way…depending on what your life is about right now…this life anyway.  but in the end there is one truth and this book fact or fiction taps into the closest to it as far as I´m concerned..too bad its written off as new age mumbo jumbo…but I find that so perfect in a strange way.  I t should be discredited.

If you do decide for some reason beyond your understanding to read it remember this:

This book is not one of science.  it uses no scientific method, the evidence is circumstantial and the words must be taken at face value as a pure matter of faith.  Funny as I write this I am reminded of another book… The Holy Bible.  So easily disproved were it not for its undeniable power.  open your heart as well as your mind as you read the pages of this book.  Like most books pertaining to spirituality and faith, it will slowly answer questions, sometimes one didn’t even know one had…or perhaps had once in another life.
